Detail - how to approach it

Vignettes:  Long ago, I was introduced to the very effective idea of vignettes, or mini-scenes, to lead the viewer/operator around the layout.  It also kind of subconsciously makes the layout seem larger, with the space between seen as a pass-through, that we don't dwell on as much.  (I was a member of a club in Los Angeles, that had members who worked in scene design and construction in the movie industry.)

The details:  Whenever I approach this, I rapidly get overwhelmed by the magnitude of the project, then have to break it down to little portions.  You list many small projects that can be done in a short period of time at the end of the work day.  Or before the layout even has started construction, there is the stock pile of people and things that can be painted and modified to fit the period.  This is something that I neglected to do early, and now that the layout is under construction, is part of the many in-fill projects.

Great ideas.  Thanks, Charlie.

edit:  And along those lines, I just discovered my afternoon project, on page 22 in "Tips":  lots and lots of crates!  Thanks, some more!
