MRH

-200x303.jpg Here are the official release dates for the Jan 2013 issue of MRH - the first Gen2 version:

- Standard edition: Wed, Jan 9, 2013

- Embedded edition: Mon, Jan 14, 2013 (delayed a week)

- Online edition: Wed, Jan 9, 2013

- eReader edition: Wed, Jan 9, 2013

- Printer-friendly edition: Wed, Jan 9, 2013

- Bonus Downloads: Mon, Jan 14, 2013 (delayed a week)

Issue release has been delayed two days from its usual first Monday to Tuesday.  We want to make sure the new Gen2 format is a good as it can be on its first day of release! We're having some technical issues with the media, so the embedded edition and media-related content will be delayed one week.

We expect February to be back to our usual First Monday release schedule.

Update

We're having some unforseen last minute technical problems with some of the media in this issue, so we need to make a choice - either we delay everything for up to a week, or we release the standard and online editions by tomorrow, but none of the media links will work until we can get the problems solved.

It also means we will delay the embedded edition (which includes the media) and the bonus downloads for up to a week.

Our vote is to release the standard edition and online edition anyway, but if you click on the media you will go to a page with expected delivery dates for the media until it's finally available.

..

It sounds like a fair compromise.

Good things are worth waiting for...

I would not mind waiting for a week.  I want the embedded edition anyway, so it sound's like I'll be waiting a week regardless.

It's probably that "evil MRH gen2" that's responsible for the troubles and delay... [wink]

That sounds good to me.  Changing all of the release dates, even when there's a valid reason for some delay, can cause confusion and generate some ill will.  I'd wager that most readers remain only vaguely aware of the Gen 2 version at this point, so making it available a week later will thus seem like a nice bonus.

Delayed Release

I have mixed emotions... I look forward to each month's issue, and every day it is delayed seems like an eternity. Then again, I've been looking forward to the e-reader version as well.

Guess it is a fair compromise, I'll probably load it twice anyway... I vote for tomorrow's release date too!

Release of Jan 2013 MRH

Hi Joe,

I think it  is a good move to release the standard edition right away,

I know that I am very concerned when I can't download for one reason or another. I am sure that their are a lot of

modelers who look forward to each edition as much as me.

I would like to thank and congratulate  you on the tremendous job you have done with the magazine

Cheers

Okay, here's the story

Okay, we're pushing as fast as we can go, but the loose ends associated with a complete reformat just seem to never end.

We will push release of the Standard Edition and the Online Edition to Wed, Jan 9th, and then we will release the Embedded edition and the media for all the editions, along with the bonus content on Monday Jan 14.

I will say the new format feels pretty slick, and some of the staff are giving it two thumbs up on mobile devices. You will get your hands on it real soon now ...

Delay

As I don't have a new fangled devise, I went searching for my usual download, to no avail. I am happy to wait, no probs.

One of the reasons I don't/won't use these new devices.... my arms are to short to hold out the screen to read them, or the light is wrong.  I wait to get home, hook up the lap top to the 50" screen, and it is better than paper.  I only need my seeing glasses (long distance) and away I go.

I may yet buy one of these devices, but here downunder, FREE WiFi is like rocking horse poo... fairly rare.

oh crap

I really look forward to this mag. Waiting for it to arrive through the little wire is a task that seems much longer than it really is. You can imagine what I went through when it was every two months. I guess it means that it is a really good magazine if everyone is so impatient to get their copy.

I think we should all just vote the technical problems off the island, whadya say.

Keep up the excellent work.

Is January Issue delayed further?

I've been looking on the website this afternoon for the January Issue, that was going to be released on the 9th.  Has this slipped again?

I'm not too bothered about the digital content as I have never got it to play on my computer and I don't have an iPad or tablet.

It will be good when it eventually arrives though, I'm sure.

Happy modeling

Norman

Norman, I believe you will

Norman, I believe you will find the new format a step forward on your desktop! I looked at it last night and was blown away! Until then, I was just viewing it on my iPad. That is good. On my 22-inch desktop, it pops!

About ready to wet myself!

Not sure I can wait much longer!  Your last suggestion makes the most sense.  That way, we have the content now and can be satisfied with that while we wait for the media.

New issue

Well I am sure, I will get hate mail on this...but as a reader, I feel that all comments should be welcomed-we all have to be able to take advice and learn.

I have to say that I for one, would like the old version of MRH back!  I have a big monitor as I have an all in one, and find this new format a bit cramped, I enjoyed the landscape version that was what you got on the older issues.  I understand the concept and the need to evolve and change as new tech come out, but I think MRH should have focused on those, as for those that read them on laptop and desktops, for myself, I was fine with what you guys had.  It seems you guys are having to do more work than you had before with this new version-your posts attests to that, as your embedded version is really delayed, because of link issues.  I would like to ask that you keep the prior version available.  I would very much like to see a return to that, or make it bigger for desktop users...I find it smaller than before and like I said cramped.
