Glad to see Charlie is back in the magazine

Article was very timely. I was beginning to wonder if Charlie was alright. His web site did not show anything terribly recent either. Then a discovery, Charlie's layout would be in an upcoming issue. Nice coverage and the video was great as well. First thing I was looking for in this months issue.

Great feature, it just got 5 stars. I also needed my issue of the South Jackson Gazette. MRH delivers again.

Wow....

First time I believe I've ever seen the trackplan of Charlie's layout.  I dream of having a huge basement someday but then I think about how hard it seems to be for me to accomplish things on my small room sized layout and I wonder if I should be careful what I wish for. Have always loved Charlie's layout and photography of it though. Plus, Horace Fithers and the South Jackson Gazette  shows that Charlie doesn't take himself too seriously which in this day and age of the hobby is quite refreshing.

Charlie's been taking a break

Charlie's been taking a break, working on the layout in earnest. His column will be back this summer. In the meantime, enjoy this meaty update.

Also, Charlie's Hot Trains Alcomania DVD is coming to TMTV this month. If you don't have it already, then here it is for you TMTV subscribers.; If you do have it, it's been rerendered in HD, so it looks better than ever - definitely worth a rewatch!

Nice to See the BC & SJ Update

A few years ago I purchased Joe's OPS DVDs, with vol 3 & 4 featuring the BC&SJ. I saw the fun you could have operating a "plywood pacific", with the concept of OPS as you build. I am building a large sectional layout in my basement. After viewing Charlie's work, I went to my own basement and got some track down. I have been having OPS sessions for a year with the most recent on March 29th. Thank You Charlie for sharing you modeling. Keep ém comming.

Meaty update is right!

Very cool to see it all, and the article has some nice insight into the 'locals' whom are quoted in the 'Gazette.  The video was really well done- constant speed, just following it along and telling us what it's all about in that scene, etc.

Thanks to Charlie and MRH for bringing us to his layout.

I was wondering...

If Alcomania was going to make it to TMTV. I plan to take a look at it.

Yeah, I don't know that I've ever seen a track plan of the BD&SJ before today. I thought I had a large basement space at 12' X 40'. Charlie's basement is 18' longer. On the other hand his tour video gave me a few ideas to play with. I would hate to be the guy who has to use the wye for the runarounds, but the railroad looks like a blast to operate. Maybe I'll have the time and the money to make the national convention next year. Then I can see both railroads I've been reading about for years.

Cool

It's fun to see the changes since I was able to visit the BC&SJ in person just about a year ago.  Relocation of the temporary staging and progress on the peninsula look like nice improvements.

Any chance of a Live Ops! follow up?

Charlie it would be nice to see another Live Ops! when things settle down after the NMRA show, any chance of that happening?

Live Ops and Alco Mania

Charlie,

I too would love another live ops video . . . and given you propensity for operations maybe the Alcomania successor could be a local wayfreight switching video . . . I bet you could do 30 minutes in Mill Bend.

ONE OF THE TOP TEN

Charlie, have used many things I have seen on your layout on mine.  Have you on my bucket list to visit and operate on one day if possible.

This is truly one great model railroad.

Thanks for Sharing with us.
