Curbing & Sidewalks
Hi All,
I'm after some ideas for installing some concrete curbing & sidewalks for our HO module. I'm currently using styrene as the road, driveways and loading areas. What have others used to achieve a realistic effect? Is it easier to buy preformed plastic (like Walthers road/sidewalk system) or will I be able to scratch build something from styrene in the Evergreen range?

First diorama in awhile What do you think
this is a quick photo of the first diorama I built in awhile. I am not to crazy about the color of the dirt but I am sure I can use somthing to fix it. I am also going to be adding signs and additional detail yet. See me your thoughts on it as i am trying to do better. I think the dirt drive is what;s turning me off the most.

Dave Frary's ebooks
I purchased "222 Tips for Building Model Railroad Structures(eBooks)" and "303 TIPS for building model railroad structures and scenery(eBooks)" by Dave Frary. I found the PDF books to be helpful and discovered at least two dozen new ideas so far. The only downside I've seen is some info is dated (a problem with all publications) and the tips are sort of randomly covered without a good index of them. With a PDF file the articles can be searched, so the information can be found.

My first "scratch built" plastic structure
I grew up in Louisville, Ky in a little 6th class city called "Richlawn" (thus the name of my model railroad). My last visit home I took many pictures of my boyhood home (with the owners's permission & blessing) and now I plan on constructiing a scratch build of the home & garage. Here's the front of the home as it appears today:

Bricked up windows - make it real
I volunteer for the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway http://brscenic.com/ as a car host and on a recent trip to McCaysville / CopperHill, TN I was looking at an old building in town that had some windows that had been bricked in. Here's a photo of the building:
